Most rural areas in Guizhou have regular market days. Villagers gather at the designated market locations on specific days, usually once a week or every 6 days according to Chinese lunar calendar, the days of animal. They bring their own agricultural products and handicrafts to trade. These markets are bustling with people, and various transactions are carried out in a lively atmosphere.
Miao market in Shidong is a good example.
A trip to Guizhou should be timed, if at all possible, with a visit to the Miao village market in Shidong. It occurs every six days, on the days of bull or goat according to the Chinese lunar calendar.
