Jiu Long Dong Cave Scenic Area

Jiu Long Dong Cave is located on Guanyin Mountain in the eastern part of Tongren City. It is a large natural karst cave. The various stalactites in the cave are spectacularly beautiful. According to legend, there were six yellow dragons who, in ancient times, invited three green dragons from the Jinjiang River to come with them for a gathering at the cave. When the nine dragons were all together in the cave, they saw that it was like a wonderland and decided to make the cave their home. When the dawn came, none of the dragons wanted to go back to their original homes. Instead, they lay down on the giant columns at the back of the cave and never left. This is how "Nine Dragon Cave" got its name.

This cave is simply stunning! If you are fascinated by caves and the unique formations therein, we highly recommend this cave. We found it better than others in Yangshuo simply because of the size of it and the things inside. You start by taking a short boat ride into the cave and then continue along a walkway. It is quite wet, so I recommend wearing non-slip shoes. I honestly can see why they call it Nine Dragon - you will be astounded by how much some of the rock formations look like dragons.
