This Guizhou Miao and Dong ethnic tour is especially designed for travelers who want to have in-depth exploration in Southeast Guizhou, the last peaceful habitat for human being to rest their soul. It starts from Congjiang County, a bordering place with Guangxi with high speed trains connecting, which can be called the southeast door of Guizhou Province. Explore from Kaili, then you'll get to Zhaoxing, Rongjiang, Leishan, Kaili and Zhenyuan and your tour will end in Congjiang.
Zhaoxing Dong Village, Dali Dong Village, Basha Miao Village, Wudong Miao Village, Shiqiao Miao Village of Paper Making
Welcome to Kaili! Our guide and driver pick you up at Kaili railway station.
Start your trip from Kaili, and then transfer to Shiqiao Miao village first, where you can experience how to make paper with trees' bark, flowers or some grass, taught by a local paper making master. Shiqiao Village is famous for the national intangible cultural heritage of traditional paper making with trees'bark by Miao ethnic group. Catch the rare opportunity to see the traditional processes of making papers in the Chuandong, a natural cave where the underground river water flows quietly. Recommended optional activity: learn to make Flower Paper in the craft shop of a local family. After Shiqiao village visit, transfer to Wudong Miao village, it's a village located in Mount Leigongshan with a height of 1,200m above sea level. On the way to Wudong, you can visit the terraced rice fields.
Overnight Wudong village
Have a morning hike in Leigong mountain and enjoy the waterfalls (1.5h). Upper Langde Miao village, in which you possibly have a chance to experience the Miao welcome ceremony, and see local farmers in traditional costumes. They will offer you rice wine to drink, but try not take too much, otherwise you get drunk and sleep for 2 days.
On the way to Dali Dong village, we can visit Datang Miao village as well if time permits.
Drive to visit Basha Miao village, village, Huanggang Dong village on the way to Zhaoxing. Enjoy the Miao ceremony in Basha.
Zhaoxing Dong Village. It has been selected as “one of the six most beautiful countryside in China” and together with its drum towers were listed into the Guinness World Records in 2001. It is divided into 5 natural small villages, living in five different areas - which are called “Tuan” locally. Besides, there are five drum towers, five Wind and Rain Bridges and five stages setting in the village. Start your exploration from the village gate and get atop of the viewing platform to enjoy the panorama, where you can also clearly appreciate the five drum towers standing beautifully in the village. Afterwards, pay a visit to the Zhaoxing Dong Culture Museum to have a better understanding about Dong people and its culture in all aspects. Follow the route to visit Xin Tuan (means faith) with the highest drum tower at 25.9 meters, Zhi Tuan (means wisdom), Yi Tuan (means righteousness), Li Tuan (means Rritual) with the first drum tower in Zhaoxing built in 17th century and Ren Tuan (means benevolence). If weather permits, watch the famous Grand Song of Dong People and other interesting programs.
Take a 7km's drive up the hills to Tang'an Dong village, and visit the terraced rice fields. If you would like, you can walk down the hills to Zhaoxing, it takes 2 hours.
Drive to Congjiang railway station, and take the bullet train for your next destination. Recommend: Guilin, Guangzhou or Guiyang

Climate and Altitude
Generally speaking Mid July—End Nov. are the best time to visit Guizhou. And we highly suggest you come in August, September and October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude in Guizhou. It's not too high here, about only around. 1000m above sea level.
