Suoga Miao Village attracts many tourists with its unique ethnic culture, primitive architectural style and beautiful natural scenery. Tourists can admire the traditional costumes of the Longhorn Miao, experience their ancient way of life and visit the ecological museum to learn about the history and culture of the Longhorn Miao.
The Longhorn Miao is a unique branch of the Miao ethnic group, with a population of only about 4,000. They mainly live in 12 villages centered around Gaoxing Village, including 4 in Gaoxing Village, 1 in Anzhu Village, 2 in Xinhua Township and 5 in Zhijin County.
Girls start learning traditional ethnic crafts such as spinning hemp, weaving, batik and embroidery from an early age. Batik uses natural plants as dyes, and every household has a dyeing vat. The embroidery is exquisite and the embroidered products are delicate and beautiful.
At present, the local tourism facilities are constantly being improved. In terms of transportation, trains from Guiyang to Yunnan stop at Liuzhi. There are minibuses from Liuzhi to Suoga Township, and you can also take a tricycle to the village in the township. In terms of accommodation, the Suoga Ecological Museum used to provide standard rooms, and you can also choose to have meals and stay at local villagers' homes.
The most important festival of the year is the Tiaohuapo Festival from the 4th to the 14th day of the first lunar month during the Spring Festival. Young men carry bamboo lusheng and mouth harps to visit villages and have antiphonal singing of folk songs.
