Shiqiao Miao Village is a charming place with unique cultural and architectural features. It has a rich history and traditions. The village showcases beautiful Miao-style buildings and offers visitors a glimpse into the local way of life. Each Miao family in Shiqiao is good at making paper with trees' bark, this technique can be dated back to 1300 years ago in China, they used to be Han Chinese group, and came to Guizhou 600 years ago because of wars happened in north China. In order to find a safe shelter to live, the Han Chinese group came here with their group and family. In the long history they had to marry the Miao women around Shiqiao, because they were a tribe, and not allowed to marry inside their tribe. Year by year, the kids or the grandchildren often stayed with their Miao mothers, learned Miao language and Miao embroidery making. Therefore they call themselves Miao, and they speak Miao better than Chinese, and already master two skills: paper making and embroidery making
