  • How to get to Guizhou and travel around?

    Located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, the traffic density of Guizhou is not as high as that of China's coastal areas. However, However, with the rapid development in recent years, aviation, railways, and expressways have covered the whole of Guizhou, making traveling to Guizhou easier and more convenient.

    Flight to Guizhou

    At present, Guizhou has formed a route network covering major cities in the province, with 11 opened civil aviation airports, radiating major cities in South China, North China, East China, Northeast China, Southwest China, and Northwest China. Its trunk airport, Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, has operated 81 routes currently, including 60 domestic originating routes, 15 stopping routes, 2 regional routes, and 4 international routes. Or you can take the domestic flight to Tongren Fenghuang airport, Zunyi Maotai Airport, Xingyi Wanfenlin Airport, Libo airport and start your tour there.

    Train to Guizhou

    With the continuous construction of the railway networks, the provincial capital Guiyang has now become a high-speed rail hub in the southwest region, connecting Chongqing and Chengdu in the north, Changsha in the east, Kunming in the west, and Guilin in the south. The train ride from the above cities takes about 2-3 hours to reach Guiyang. As of the end of December 2025, all prefecture-level cities have been connected by high-speed trains, they are Kaili, Anshun, Zunyi, Tongren, Liupanshui, Bijie, Xingyi, Duyun.

    Travel within Guizhou

    With all 88 counties in Guizhou connected to expressways at the end of 2015, Guizhou has become the first province in the west to have expressways in every county, making it easier and more convenient to travel through its territory. Taking long-distance buses to travel within Guizhou is the budget way, however, to fully enjoy the journey, the best way must be hiring a private car through a local China travel agency.


  • What Is the Best Time to Travel to Guizhou?

    Guizhou belongs to the subtropical humid monsoon climate zone, with warm winter and cool summer, making it suitable for arranging a trip there at any time of the year. While the best seasons to visit Guizhou is in Spring, Summer, and Autumn (normally from May to October) when the climate is mild, the temperature difference is small, and the annual average temperature in most areas is about 15℃.

    Due to the low latitude, there is no severe cold in winter and extremely hot in summer, even the coldest January average temperature is 3℃~6℃, and the hottest July average temperature is 22℃~25℃, and the frost-free period is 250-300 days; annual rainfall is about 1300 mm, of which the cumulative 450-600 mm from June to August. The rain and heat are in the same season, and the warm and humid climate is very conducive, making the reproduction and growth of various organisms. Besides, the typical cool summer climate makes Guizhou an ideal summer resort.

    If the visitors want to experience the festivals of ethnic groups, the best time to visit Guizhou is in October, November, December, January, February, March and April, because these months are before rice planting and after the harvest, which can make local farmers have time to celebrate their festivals.

  • How many days should I spend in Guizhou?

    The number of days you should spend in Guizhou depends on your travel plans and interests. Here are some suggestions:

    3-4 Days

    Ideal for:Those who have limited time but want to experience the highlights of Guizhou.

    Itinerary

    Day 1:Arrive in Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou. Spend the day exploring the city, visiting attractions like Jiaxiu Tower and Qianling Mountain Park.

    Day 2:Head to Huangguoshu Waterfall, one of the most famous waterfalls in China. Spend the whole day there, enjoying the magnificent waterfall and its surrounding scenery.

    Day 3:Go to Libo Xiaqikong. Explore the unique karst landforms, clear waters, and beautiful waterfalls in the scenic area.

    Day 4:You can choose to go to Zhenyuan Ancient Town or Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village. Experience the ancient town's charm or the unique Miao ethnic culture respectively.

    5-7 Days

    Ideal for:Travelers who want to have a more in-depth experience of Guizhou's scenery and culture.

    Itinerary

    Day 1:Same as the first day of the 3-4 day itinerary, arriving in Guiyang and getting to know the city.

    Day 2-4:Travel to Qiandongnan Prefecture. Visit Zhaoxing Dong Village, Basha Miao Village and other ethnic minority villages to experience the unique ethnic customs and cultures.

    Day 5:Go to Fanjing Mountain. Climb to the top of the mountain to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and the sea of clouds.

    Day 6:Go to Anshun and visit the Longgong Scenic Area to explore the wonders of the underground karst cave.

    Day 7:Return to Guiyang or continue to explore other nearby attractions according to your interests.

    8-10 Days

    Ideal for:Those who have enough time and want to explore Guizhou more comprehensively.

    Itinerary

    Day 1:Arrive in Guiyang and take a rest.

    Day 2-4:Similar to the 5-7 day itinerary, visit ethnic minority villages in Qiandongnan Prefecture to experience the unique ethnic culture.

    Day 5:Go to Fanjing Mountain and spend a whole day there to fully enjoy the scenery.

    Day 6:Travel to Anshun and visit Huangguoshu Waterfall and Longgong Scenic Area.

    Day 7:Go to Bijie and visit the Baili Rhododendron Scenic Area to enjoy the beautiful rhododendron flowers.

    Day 8-9:Go to Liupanshui to experience the cool summer climate and visit attractions like the Zangke River Scenic Area.

    Day 10:Return to Guiyang or continue to other destinations according to your preferences.


  • What Are Accommodations Like?

    There are many star-rated hotels in the major cities of Guiyang, Anshun, Xingyi, Libo, Bijie, Tongren and Kaili. Other areas, being underdeveloped only offer simple hotels and guest houses. Although they lack many of the amenities found in star-rated hotels, the guesthouses are family-run and quite clean.

  • What Should I Take Along with While Traveling to Guizhou

    It is recommended that you bring comfortable shoes. You will undoubtedly be doing a lot of walking, so comfortable shoes are a must. Sunscreen is recommended, as well as carrying bottled water with you. Since it rains all year, it is recommended that you carry an umbrella with you. If you are a photography lover, do not forget your camera, film and plenty of batteries, or you will never forgive yourself.

We highly suggest you try the foods. We are fairly certain you will love it. The capital of Guiyang has McDonald's and KFC for those who would like a break from Chinese food.

  • What Are the Currency and the ATM System in Guizhou Like?

    Foreign currencies cannot be used directly in Guizhou, but you can exchange your money at the many Bank of China outlets throughout the province. Most major hotels in Guiyang will accept major credit cards. Your hotels also can change money for you and ATMs are easy to find.

  • How is the weather in Guizhou?

    Guizhou is located in the subtropical humid monsoon climate zone. The temperature varies slightly, with warm winters and cool summers. The annual average temperature in most areas is 14 - 16°C. The average temperature in the hottest month is below 22 - 25°C, and the average temperature in the coldest month is above 5°C. The extreme maximum temperature rarely exceeds 38°C, and the extreme minimum temperature is seldom lower than -8°C.

    The annual precipitation in Guizhou is mostly 1,100 - 1,400 mm, increasing from northwest to southeast. There are more overcast and rainy days with insufficient sunshine. The annual average sunshine duration is 1,200 - 1,500 hours, and the sunshine percentage is only 25% - 30%, making it one of the areas with less sunshine in China.


  • Where should I go in Guizhou as a first-timer?

    Here are some recommended places to visit for first-timers in Guizhou:
    Arrive in Guiyang first by train or by plane. There are also direct bullet trains from othe cities to reach Kaili(Kaili Nan), Anshun(Anshun Xi), Zunyi, Libo, Bijie which are the centers of local attractions, that's a great way to help you save time and cost. 

    If you are interested in nature landscapes, we recommend Huangguoshu Waterfall, Wanfeng Forest, Libo Xiaoqikong, Fanjing Mountain; if you like historic sites, we recomment Qingyan, and Zhenyuan; but if you want to discover the ethnic groups' culture, we would like to highly recommend Xijiang Qianhu Miao village, Langde Uppe Miao village, Zhaoxing Dong village, and other smaller villages around them.

  • Are the hotel, food costs covered in the package, or is it excluded? Do we tip your tour guide, or we don't have to?

    Each tour package includes different items, we will remark them on our package. Basically we recommend lunches and dinners are not covered, allowing you to choose freely or seek recommendations from our local guide; unless it's a big group that we would highly suggest include the lunch into the package for saving time en route.
