Kaili is the capital city of the Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Southeast Guizhou, and also the base of southeast Guizhou's ethnic culture tour.
Your tour guide and driver will meet you at Kaili South (Kaili Nan)railway station, and transfer to the village.
Today's first stop is Shiqiao Miao village.
Shiqiao is famous for its old technology of papermaking. The ancient traditional methods of production can be traced back to the Tang dynasty. You can learn how to make paper in a local family's house.
After Shiqiao we take a ride of 1 hour to Wudong.
Wudong is a Miao village located on Mountain Leigongshan, a national park with more than 1,800 herb species and some other wild animals. The village is 1,200m high above sea level, with rich resource of spring water, therefore you can drink some water when you are taking a shower.
To enrich your experience, you can enjoy the Cultural Program which usually includes catching fish in the paddy field, picking fresh vegetable in the farm and learning to make embroidery. Please tell your travel consultant in advance to make appointment.
Today we will visit Langde Upper Miao village and Matang village.
After enjoying your breakfast, start today's excursion. The first destination for the day is Langde Upper Miao Village, renowned as "the Hometown of Chinese Folk Song and Dance Art," located approximately 28 kilometers away from Kaili. This charming village offers a refreshing escape from bustling crowds, embracing a tranquil natural ambiance while welcoming visitors with open arms and showcasing its rich cultural heritage. Upon reaching the village, you will be greeted with genuine warmth through a traditional welcome ceremony with the lovely ladies and girls, elegantly adorned in traditional Miao costumes offering "block-the-way" wine. Following the convivial toasts, immerse yourself further in the vibrant atmosphere as you witness an enthralling singing and dancing performance at the Lusheng Ground. Here, the talented men of the village will skillfully play the Lusheng, a traditional musical instrument, while the graceful ladies showcase their artistry through mesmerizing dances. Should you wish, feel free to join in the dance.
This afternoon you will visit Matang Gejia village to see handmade batik. Matang is inhabited by Gejia people, who is classified as Miao people by local government, but Gejia people deny to be Miao people, they claim to be the descendants of Houyi (as a legend goes, the ancestor Houyi could shoot the sun with the bow and arrow.) and adore bow and arrow. Their festal clothes just look like ancient warrior. Gejia people are specialized in batik that you can fully appreciate the uniqueness of the Gejia batik patterns, if you are interested, you can learn how to make batik with wax from a local people and create batik work with your own painting. (optional experience).
In the late afternoon, you are escorted back to Kaili South Railway station or your hotel in Kaili city, the tour ends.

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd.
