Guizhou Highlights and Remote Villages Tour

Arrival at Guiyang airport or Train station, met and picked up by our drive and guide. Transfer to visit Qingyan ancient town in the afternoon. 

The town was originally built of stone. Fantastic stone walls still remain, with gates facing north, south, east and west. There were originally eight stone tablets outside the gates and three of these remain today, each with intricate sculptures.

Many other historical relics survive. Among its 37 tourist attractions are 9 temples, 8 shrines, 5 pavilions, 3 caves, 2 ancestral halls, 1 palace and 1 academy. There are also 3 ancient archways. Most of these ancient buildings are exquisitely carved with terrapins, dragons and other traditional Chinese patterns.

Visit night food market  after you check into your hotel.

After breakfast, drive about 2.5 hours to Anshun for today's trip to Huangguoshu Waterfall, which is the largest waterfall in Asia. You will appreciate different views of the waterfall, especially go behind the waterfall and see how water starts dropping and touch the waterfall.

Visit Doupotang Scenic Area which is one of the shooting places of well-known TV series of one of the four Chinese literature classics - “Pilgrimage to the West”. Walk pleasantly there to appreciate the 105 meters wide and 21 meters high waterfall formed on the more than 100 meters calcific beach bar, which dumps from the top giant pool of 15 thousand square meters wide. As the waterfall always roars strongly during flooding period, it is also named “Roaring Waterfall”.

Next, take the sightseeing vehicle to have a close admiration of Tianxingqiao Scenic Area. Catch all its essences of Karst landscape to know why it is complimented as a fairyland of Karst ecology miniature landscape with different sceneries at different angles and idyllic environment of birds and flowers, water and mountain, forest and cave, etc. Here you will see the stone forest of 0.4 square kilometers grows on water with verdant undershrub and cactus, and meet the Beauty Banyan looking like a beautiful lady with graceful posture.

Then, take the sightseeing vehicle to see the iconic Huangguoshu Waterfall of 77.8 meters high and 101 meters wide. With such magnificent and shocking scenery, it is the No.1 largest waterfall in whole Asia and one of the most famous waterfalls around the world. Walk around the waterfall to admire its distinct landscape from different angles and feel its breathtaking roaring of falling into the 17 meters deep shoal. Besides, you will encounter with more inspiring places including the 134 meters dragon-like Water Curtain Cave behind the waterfall, more than 3,000 excellent bonsai displayed exquisitely in the bonsai garden, and more to feel the grand sight of the large scenic area.

After the visiting, your guide and driver will escort you to the hotel in Guiyang City.

Visit Xiaoqikong scenic area after we take a drive of 3h. Xiaoqikong scenic area includes Wolongtan Lake, Cuigu Waterfalls, 68 waterfalls group, Laya Waterfalls and Ancient Bridge.

Visit Zhaoxing Dong village after we arrive, and take a local car to Tang'an Dong village, hike from Tang'an to Zhaoxing, pasting through the terraced paddy fields(2hours).

Visit the best kept Dong village called Huanggang, and then drive to explore Zhanli Dong village on the way to Rongiang.

Huanggang Dong Village is considered as one of the most beautiful and traditional Dong villages in Guizhou. Huanggang, hidden in the mountains, built in ancient Song Dynasty (960-1297), has preserved the most authentic Dong culture. The villagers have had simple and unsophisticated ethnic life for hundreds of years. You can explore their local life and enjoy the unique architecture in the village. There are five drum towers standing in different directions and you can see the elders chatting in the tower or weaving their cloth. Festivals are special here - “Goddess of Thunder Worship Festival” and “Tai Guanren Festival”. If your visiting time is just on the date, you can witness such a unique scene. 

Explore the remote Miao villages around Rongjiang, especially visit those remote Miao villages near Tingdong.

Rongjiang is located in Mountain Moon(Yueliangshan mountian), there are a lot of different ethnic groups hide among the hills, especially a lot of Miao villages, they are very worth a visit and exploration.

Visit morning market in Rongjiang, and move to visit Baibei Miao village, Zenlei village of Shui group and some other villages,  experience the paper making in Shiqiao.

Shiqiao Village is famous for the national intangible cultural heritage of traditional paper making with trees' bark by Miao ethnic group. Catch the rare opportunity to see the traditional processes of making papers in the Chuandong, a natural cave where the underground river water flows quietly. Recommended optional activity: learn how to make Flower Paper in the craftshop of a local family.

Visit Upper Langde village, Wudong Miao village and drive back to Kaili.

Renowned as "the Hometown of Chinese Folk Song and Dance Art", Langde Upper Miao Village is located approximately 28 kilometers away from Kaili. This charming village offers a refreshing escape from bustling crowds, embracing a tranquil natural ambiance while welcoming visitors with open arms and showcasing its rich cultural heritage. Upon reaching the village, you will be greeted with genuine warmth through a traditional welcome ceremony with the lovely ladies and girls, elegantly adorned in traditional Miao costumes offering "block-the-way" wine. Allow the flavors of the wine to delight your senses while immersing yourself in the genuine hospitality of the villagers. Following the convivial toasts, immerse yourself further in the vibrant atmosphere as you witness an enthralling singing and dancing performance at the Lusheng Ground. Here, the talented men of the village will skillfully play the Lusheng, a traditional musical instrument, while the graceful ladies showcase their artistry through mesmerizing dances. To enrich your experience, you can take part in the village's Cultural Program which usually includes catching fish in the field, picking fresh vegetable in the farm and learning to make embroidery. Wudong Miao Village in Leigongshan Mountain is a remarkable and culturally rich destination.

It is nestled in the Leigongshan Mountain area. Surrounded by lush mountains and beautiful natural landscapes, the village enjoys a serene and idyllic environment. The fresh air and the magnificent mountain views make it a charming place that attracts many visitors who yearn for a close encounter with nature.

Visit Matang village of Gejia group in the morning, and visit Flying Cloud Temple in the afternoon.

Matang is a primitive village with over 120 Gejia households who are called the 57 th ethnic group in China unofficially. According to the legend, Gejia people are the  direct descendants of Hou Yi, a legendary hero who was said to shoot the nine scorching suns in order to save his people. Matang Village is famous for exotic attires, colorful festivals and countryside feelings. The women and girls here are specialized in batik that you can fully appreciate the uniqueness of the Gejia batik patterns and embroidery as well as the excellent craftsmanship of the villagers. If you are interested, you can learn how to make batik with wax from a local master and create your own batik work (optional experience with extra payment).

Huangping Flying Cloud Temple (Feiyun Temple) is a place full of historical and cultural significance.

It is located in Huangping. The temple is usually set against a backdrop of beautiful natural scenery. Surrounded by mountains and greenery, its location provides a sense of tranquility and seclusion. The natural environment around it not only offers a pleasant visual experience but also creates a spiritual atmosphere that is conducive to religious and cultural activities.

The Flying Cloud Temple is also an important cultural heritage site. It bears witness to the long - standing religious and cultural traditions in the region. The inscriptions, murals, and religious artifacts preserved in the temple are valuable materials for studying ancient religious art, calligraphy, and the evolution of religious thought. Zhenyuan is an ancient Town with a history of more than 2,200 years, it features hundreds of ancient buildings in Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1912) Dynasties. After arriving at Zhenyuan Ancient Town, you will go to explore Black Dragon Cave (also called Qinglong Cave). This is not simply a cave, but a ancient architectural complex of ancient temples, pavilions, shrines and palaces standing on Zhonghe Mountain. It well presents the Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism culture with the magnificent construction and layout. It is said that Zhang Sanfeng, the founder of Tai Chi, personally selected and involved in the construction of the temples. This scenic spot is composed of the following parts including the Zhusheng Bridge, Zhongyuan Temple, Ziyang Shuyuan (Academy of Classical Learning), Jade Emperor Pavilion, Longevity Palace and Xianglu Yan. After getting to the top of the cave, catch the appealing panorama of Zhenyuan Ancient Town and Wuyang River in charm and peace. Visit Zhenyuan ancient town and its Black Dragon Cave temple in the morning and leave Zhenyuan for Guiyang airport or Guiyang railway station in the afternoon. After you arrive at Guiyang airport or railway station, your Guizhou tour ends.
